We are keeping an eye on the spring grass, with heavy dry lot rotation. Horses are moving from The Ridge pastures through the Stableside paddock and then through to The Field pasture. Today, we're taking a pit stop in the stalls for AM and PM feeding.
Halters are always tied on the gate nearest to where they're turned out. Grace needs expert handling to cross the muck mats at The Field entry. Lots of confidence work needed here. A project! PM Herd: Pr, Dc on R2 dry lot / Gr, Ch, Db in R1 pasture with loose hay Land Management: Treated pastures and green spaces with Biochar; the Ridge pastures and hay fields were overseeded with Pasture Mix blend. Scott drove the mower around in circles for a billion hours today. The fly predators are on the way, starting the program 2 weeks early to combat a season expected to be filthy with flies because of winter's mild temps.
